Jamil Janjua
CEO, Octara

Jamil Janjua is CEO of Octara, and started his working career as a Pilot for the national flag carrier PIA, flying to various international locales as Captain on 707s and Co-pilot on 747s. Medical reasons brought his airline career to a premature end, and he opted for a new career in human resource development and corporate management, putting himself through an unending series of highly educative management and self-development courses. Soon Jamil found himself at TCS (PVT) Limited as Operations Manager in 1986. The leading domestic courier service in Pakistan went from strength to strength during the next eleven years, and Jamil rose to Chief Operating Officer. During this time he played a vital role as the communications coordinator for "Operations Self Renewal", a corporate development programme implemented in 1991. This programme was to enable TCS to maintain its leadership position in the courier industry. The need for a new challenge beckoned, and he left TCS for the British Council as Head of Management Services. Here his initiative brought into being the ICI British Council Management Centre amongst other accomplishments.
In 2001, Jamil returned to TCS to take up the controls as Chief Executive Officer. His passion for self-development has found expression at various levels, and as a good corporate citizen Jamil involved TCS in a public speaking program for school and college kids that he had begun at the British Council. The Hyde Park Juniors and his infectious enthusiasm for the project have developed a highly motivated cadre within TCS to oversee the numerous kids and their parents.
Upon Jamil’s initiative, TCS launched its own HR & Management Development Services under the name OCTARA to source local and overseas trainers of repute and conduct seminars and workshops for the corporate sector. Both these initiatives have received an overwhelming response, and very favorably positioned the TCS brand image as a concerned good corporate citizen.
In 2004, Jamil Janjua re-located to Dubai as Group CEO to oversee the international expansion while exploring the future and identifying new opportunities for the Group.
